Tule elk in Point Reyes National Seashore
The image of this tule elk was taken in Point Reyes, just north of San Francisco in California. I was driving back to the highway after photographing a heard for several hours and noticed antlers sticking up over the horizon. I parked the car and climbed up a little hill on the side of the road and this bull was grunting and doing aggressive displays on the hillside. The hill dropped off revealing the coastal hills behind the elk, making a perfect backdrop, all in late afternoon light.
